The problem of eve teasing is prevalent in almost all states, so, to control this issue and to provide protection to women against crimes, Haryana government has started Operation Durga in Haryana after taking inspiration from Anti-Romeo squad of UP.
What is Operation Durga in Haryana?
Under this Scheme, 24 teams are working including nine lady sub-inspectors, 14 lady ASI, six woman head constables and 13 lady constables. Apart from that, local police will also form a part of this flying squad. On the first day of its operation, the team had caught 72 anti-social elements who were teasing girls. Chief Minister Flying Squad will control Operation Durga so that the task can be accomplished successfully.
The Khattar Government Operation Durga will keep an eye on these rogues outside schools, colleges and tuition centres. According to this Haryana Scheme, innocents will not be punished, and precautions will be taken so that impeccant people should not be penalised. In order to ensure women’s safety, women police stations are established all the districts of Haryana. It has been announced in Haryana news that persons passing vulgar comments and harassing women will be arrested on the spot and punished severely. ‘Operation Durga’ will also encourage women to lodge complaints and report crimes.
There is a tremendous increase in crimes against women during the past few years, and the youth are being distracted from their primary aim of education and making their future to these types of anti-social acts. So, it became compulsory for the government to take steps in this direction so that the youngsters can come back to the right track. ‘Anti-Romeo Squad’ and ‘Operation Durga’ are the excellent measures adopted by the state governments to stop mischievous activities against women.
