What’s the eligibility criteria for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna is all about making the dreams come true for homeless people who cannot afford to buy a home due to financial issues.

A house is a necessity and a dream for all individuals, but not everyone is capable of making his home due to a weak financial condition.  In the joint session of parliament on 9th June 2014, a decision was made by our honourable Prime Minister that every family in the urban area will get a ‘Pucca’ house with all the essential facilities by the time the nation completes 75 years of independence i.e. by 2022. It will be ‘Housing for All’ scheme or Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna Scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna

 
  • Any beneficiary to be eligible for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna scheme should possess Aadhar card or Voter Card.
 

Statement from Government for ID proof “Any other unique identification document or a certificate of house ownership from Revenue Authority of Beneficiary’s native district which should be integrated with the details of the beneficiary.” Or the individual should be at least enrolled for Aadhar.


  • Women of India, belonging to all religions or castes are eligible to apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna-Housing for All.
  • Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
  • Individuals belonging to economically weaker sections or low-income group in the society.
  • While allotment of a house, preference may be given to more vulnerable and needy persons like physically disabled and senior citizens can be allotted ground floor portions.   The Government will provide preference to SC, ST, minorities, single women and other weaker sections of the society while allocating houses.
  • For getting benefits under low-income group or economically weaker sections of the society, an individual should show his income proof (affidavit).
  • Under the mission ( Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna scheme), the family taking advantage of this plan will comprise of husband, wife, unmarried sons or unmarried daughters. And also to get central assistance under this scheme, an individual or any of his family member should not own a ‘pucca’ house in his/her name in any part of the country.
  • EWS are those whose annual income is not more than three lakhs while LIG comprises of those having an annual income between three lakhs and six lakhs only.
  • Persons applying for this plan should have attained an age of 21 years while the maximum age limit is 55 years.
  • The application should be filled by the name of the female member of the family.
